Driving By

A number of senior students are now availing of driving lessons as part of their school curriculum. Students from the Leaving Certificate Applied class who are of age and have received their provisional licences are being offered driving lessons through the school.  The local driving instructors are providing the instruction and reaction from the students has been very positive.  In an age when road accidents claim over 400 lives annually, it is important that good practice on the road should begin at an early age.  Hopefully some of these students will have applied for their Driving Test before the end of the school year.

School Soccer

.St Brigid's Under 15 Soccer team played their first game in the F,A.I.S. Midland Cup on Wed 29th Nov in Athy.  The visitors were Portlaoise V.S. who put up a good show but were unfortunate to come up against an in-form St. Brigid's
From the start the St. Brigid's players attacked in numbers and it didn't take long for Jimmy Fennell to score their first goal.  This was followed by a clinical volleyed goal from a corner by Craig Dunphy.  Dean Connell added a third goal just before half time.
The second half saw St. Brigid's continue their dominance of the game and they added another 4 goals to finish the game worthy winners by 7 goals to nil.  Dean Connell scored a "hat trick" while Jimmy Fennell added a second goal to his first half score.  Wayne Connell was the other scorer

Best for St. Brigid's were the players mentioned along with Eric Donovan, Mark O'Donoghue and David Kelly.

St. Brigid's Parents Association had its rebirth last month when an evening with Edward Colfer from the National Parents Association resulted in officers being elected and the next meeting being scheduled for the new year.  All parents are welcome to attend the next meeting.
