Coffee for "Kosovo"

The communities surrounding Donadea Forest once again showed their willingness to help their less fortunate fellow men with their generous donations. The brainchild of Janet Colgan, this very successful fundraiser was held in Donadea Forest on Sunday 18th April. With the willing assistance of the members of the Donadea Development Group and Tir na Mona. A grand total of £2,600. was raised for the support of the Kosovan refugees. Many thanks to all the volunteers who gave so generously of their time, to Coillte for allowing us to use the forest and the shop and to all who supported us to make the day such a success.

Tiermohan National School

Tiermohan Parents Council together with the teachers and Board of Management have been in discussions with Kildare County Council regarding the dangerous situation that arises every day outside the school when the children are being collected. There is only provision for about eight car-parking spaces, three of which are permanently in use by teachers. There are now children from fifty-four families attending the school.

A meeting was arranged with John O’Neill, County Engineer and local Councillor, P.J. Sheridan on Tuesday 11th April at 2.45. Petitions Signed by over forty families were handed to Mr. O’Neill. Mr. Sweeney, Principal of Tiermohan National School spoke on behalf of the teachers. Fr. P.J. Byrne was in attendance on behalf of the Board of Management and a delegation of five parents on behalf of the Parents Council.

It was clearly evident on that particular day the daily chaos and frustration experienced by parents.

It is hoped that a solution is found before a serious accident occurs.
