NEW BEGINNING
I congratulate the Donadea Development Group
Tir na Mona on their once again successful "Wren Boys" fun
day in Donadea Forest.
Thanks to the generosity of the people on the day over €
900 was collected and donated to the Donadea-Newtown Senior
Citizens Group. Everyone is welcome to join in " The Young
at Heart" in Newtown @ 10am Thursdays. Those interested
in volunteering and presenting workshops, please contact
Marian @ 045 869303.
I wish every success to the students who have started their
computer course on Saturday 26th January. The course is
run in conjunction with Tir na Mona and part funded with
the help of a grant from the Dept. of Social Community and
Family Affairs.
Saturday 9th March is the Tir na Mona Clean-Up day.
So come on show your community spirit by getting out there
with your neighbours to improve your environment. The early
birds will commence at 10am but will welcome support at
any time throughout the day.

RESOURCE/INFORMATION CENTRE
The Allenwood & District Resource/Information
Centre would like to inform the public that they now have
a person available from the Citizen Information Centre every
Thursday morning from 10.30 a.m. until 1p.m. in the Allenwood
Enterprise Park. This person would be delighted to deal
with any queries you may have regarding:
Social Welfare Payments.
Justice.
Education.
Employment.
Family.
Health.
Consumer Rights.
Housing.
Insurance.
Finance.
Agriculture.
Voluntary Youth Sector.
There are many other services available.
No appointment necessary, just call to the Enterprise Park
and you will be looked after.
This is a very valuable service which is Free, Impartial
and Confidential, so please do not hesitate to avail of

BUS EIREANN - ROUTE 120
Don't forget that the Edenderry - Dublin
bus now stops at Staplestown at 11.20 and Coolcarrigan (Kelly's
Pub) at 11.23. The bus arrives back at Staplestown at 16.20
& Coolcarrigan at 16.23. This service needs to be used to
keep it.
ST. MOCHUAS HISTORICAL
SOCIETY
St. Mochuas Historical Society are back
in action on February 6th. after the Christmas break. The
A.G.M. will be held on that night in Timahoe School and
also a talk will be given on the visit of President Nixon
to Timahoe. It will be a series of memories and details
of the occasion as recalled by Jack Scully and his daughter
Marion, both of whom were closely associated with it. Everyone
is welcome.
On March 6th. Ted Creaven will host a talk on the Archaeological
finds in this area. Other events are planned for throughout
the year and will be listed in future issues of MONA. The
book "A Path through the Bog" is selling extremely well
and copies of it may be had from John Larkin (860837), Owen
Denneny (087 2828936) and Andy Flaherty (863543)
KILDARE COMMUNITY &
VOLUNTARY FORUM
Kildare Community & Voluntary Forum will
be holding an area meeting for all groups in the Clane electoral
area on Wed 5th March in the Drama Hall in Prosperous. The
evening will give groups a chance to meet the area representatives
on the Community & Voluntary Forum and learn more about
the Forum.
It will also gives groups a chance to meet each other and
make contact with other groups who have similar interests
across the north west Kildare area. There will also be an
update on the Kildare County Development Board and it's
forthcoming strategy for the county, which is due to be
launched at the end of March. The Community & Voluntary
Forum has two representatives on the County Development
Board and also has representatives on the strategic policy
committees of Kildare County Council and has been involved
in developing this strategy.
LEE SCHOOL OF IRISH DANCING
Michelle Lee wishes all her pupils and
their families a very Happy New Year. The new term commences
on Monday 14th January at 6.30 pm in St Kevin's GFC, Staplestown.

to all the dancers who auditioned for our "Celtic Rhythms
Show" which will be staged in the new Draoicht Theatre,
Blanchardstown on the 25th May 2002.
NEW YEAR'S DAY HOSPITALITY
Many thanks to Aileen Saunders and Martin
Murray for their hospitality on New Year's Day. With good
food, good company, Aileen's special punch and a very warm
welcome from Mary a great day was had by all. From your

PARENT AND TODDLERS GROUP
The Parent & Toddlers group has restarted
after the Christmas break. The group meets on Tuesday mornings
from 9.30 - 12.30 in the Drama room at Elaine Kane's in
Hodgestown. If you fancy a cup of tea and a chat then call

RACE NIGHT
A Race Night will be held on
Friday the 8th of February in St. Kevin's GAA in aid of
the building funds for Staplestown and Timahoe National
Schools. Please support generously and come along on the
night to enjoy the craic.
TIMAHOE
DRAMA WORKS
Timahoe Drama
Works has restarted after the Christmas break and rehearsals
are underway for "Pinocchio" and "Fiddler on the Roof".
Performances will take place in Clane Abbey in March/ April
for "Pinocchio" and in May for "Fiddler on the Roof" Timahoe
Drama Works is open to all children in the wider Tir Na
Mona area with practices/rehearsals on Saturdays from 2.30-3.30
for 6-8 yrs and 4-5.30 for 9-15 yrs. For further information

Walking Group Don't forget
that Timahoe walking group meets every night at 8 pm at
Kelly's. New walkers are always welcome. Why don't you join
them for a walk any evening.

NEIGHBOURS! We want
to alert you to the fact that there is a rash of petty thievery
happening in the community at the moment. Remember to take
sensible precautions against the opportunistic thief – Don’t
leave your car unlocked . Don’t leave valuables in plain
sight in your car. Remember to check your doors and windows
are closed when you leave the house and last thing at night.
Let’s watch out for each other and especially for the more
vulnerable in the community. We can nip this in the bud
if we are vigilant. If you see anything suspicous contact
your local community alert group
