November Mona Newsletter

_________November Staplestown News________

Monthly draw winner of the £100 in the monster draw for October was Jim Donohoe of Coill Dubh. Congratulations Jim. Next months draw will be held on November the 6th.

Coming up is our final major draw which will take place on December the 8th. There will be a night of ceol and craic in our clubrooms. All ticket buyers and clubmembers are invited to attend. There will be special guests on the night, and one lucky ticket buyer will drive home in a new Renault Clio.

Activities on the football front have finished for the year. The U21s were beaten by Ratheens in the championship after a brave effort from all the lads. The football pitch is now closed due to on going building works.

A special word of thanks to all whom donated to our recent monster auction. Also thanks to our buyers who dug deep to make the day a major success. Another special word of thanks to Michael Fitzpatrick and Ger. Nevin our two auctioneers on the day.

Bar /lounge facilities available to any groups in our area, for small parties, meetings etc. Usual Saturday and Sunday opening still going ahead also social ‘25’ card game every Sunday. All welcome to drop in.

Best of luck to Coill Dubh hurlers on their up coming league final.

Watch out for our up coming A.G.M date to be announced soon.

St. Kevin's, being the champions, have a team again in the country final of the bilingual quiz to be held in Allenwood on Friday 5th of November. The team captain James O’Donnell would welcome support.

TOYS

If you have an excess of toys, including soft and knitted toys, would you be interested in donating them to a worthy cause. A container of toys is being organised to go the Philippines where they will be distributed to orphanages and a centre for mentally and physically handicapped children in time for Christmas. Last Christmas Eve these children received only a cup of hot chocolate, so your gifts would be very welcomed. Telephone:045-869416 for more information or to arrange collection. A very deep thank you to those of you who ‘through word of mouth’ have already helped a great deal.
