WATER SCHEME

Tir Na Mona’s monthly meeting will be held in Kelly's lounge on 6th Dec at 8 pm. There will be an update on the group water scheme & addressing this topic will be Adrian King , Executive Engineer with Kildare Co. Co. and Mr. P. J. Sheridan, Chairman, K.C.C. It would be in the interest of people living in the Drehid and Mucklon areas to attend this meeting as it is the Councils wish to extend the water mains along these routes.

Table Quiz

The Table Quiz, held in Kelly’s Bar on Friday the 26th November epitomised community endeavour. It was co-ordinated by Timahoe Community Development Council. Answer booklets were sponsored by Coill Dubh & District Credit Union. It was supported by the community. Proceeds were donated to Timahoe N.S. Parents Council who are organising the Children’s Christmas Party, which will be run in December. From the children , a big THANK YOU to co-ordinators, sponsors, supporters and organisers. "Is ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine"

SCHOOL SAFETY

We would like to thank Kildare Co. Co. for putting in place the cautionary road markings at Timahoe N.S. within the past week. The Timahoe Section of Tir na Mona has been lobbying Kildare Co. Co. during the past year to improve road safety at the school & these road markings are part of that campaign. Plans are well under way for upgrading the parking at the school during the Christmas holiday period.

DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Tir Na Mona launched their development plan last Friday night 12th of November in Dowlings of Prosperous. The guest speaker to launch the plan was Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy. Kildare County Council Chairman P.J. Sheridan was also there to say a few words and compliment the committee on the work they put into the plan. Now that the plan has been launched it is up to the community to implement the contents and forge ahead with the various projects.

There was an auction afterwards and the bidding was mighty, as was the craic and the music. The committee would like to thank all those who dug deep into their pockets and to those who sponsored prizes and also to Pat and Betty Cosgrove for the use of their premises.

Local Artist

Natasha Moore, Timahoe N.S. was a prize-winner in the Credit Union Poster Competition. There were 261 entrants, so Natasha must be very talented indeed to merit a prize. Her poster has now gone forward to the next stage of the competitions. Congratulations Natasha! Keep the flag flying for Timahoe.

Reaching for the Sky

At a recent meeting of Timahoe Community Development Council, one of the items on the agenda was "Marking the Millennium". ideas came fast and furious. One of the most popular was painting a mural on the school tower. Seamus Lynch, Principal Timahoe N.S., looked favourably on the suggestion.

How do we turn this brainwave into reality? Maybe you can help? Firstly, we invite sketches of what you would like to see painted on the tower. Perhaps some of the many artists in our community would like to undertake the project?

then there’s the nuts & bolts, or in this situation, the primer and paint. Have you any you would like to contribute?

Finally, could you offer your talents and time to participate in this memorable event? "Many hands make light work" In this case, will it be many hands making a multicoloured Millennium tower?

Any suggestions you make, sketches you submit or willing hands you offer will be warmly welcomed. Just contact any of our committee.
