Timahoe Active Age Group was treated
to a medley of culture, drama and music, at the May Get-Together.
TIMAHOE DRAMA WORKS, under the baton of Elaine
Kane, entertained the hugely appreciative audience with
their recent production of "FIDDLER ON THE ROOF". Apart
from their very obvious musical talents, they impressed
all with their ability to adapt and improvise. Space in
Kelly's Lounge was at a premium, yet the large cast took
it all in their stride and staged a spectacular show,
like true professionals. Using the floor space in the
Lounge, weaving their' way through the audience, these
young actor's brought the show TO us, rather than performing
FOR US. The audience was spellbound and the well-deserved
applause at the end was heartfelt.... and deafening! We
thank Elaine and congratulate the children for transporting
us from the wet dreary May weather, for one night, with
their magical performance. We would like to acknowledge
the supporters of the weekly Bonus No. Apart from the
monthly Member's draw, the Bonus Sheet is the source of
funding for our Active Age Group. It has financed summer
outings, our St. Patrick's Day Trip and Christmas Party.
Without your support our excursions and events would be
hugely curtailed. Your continued support will be greatly
appreciated.
The Table Quiz will be held on
the last Friday, as usual, 28th June. Take your seats
at 9.00 p.m. Sharpen your wits and your pencils and prepare
for action, as "Executive Force" poses Question 1, Round
1 at 9.30p.m.
Our fifth ANNUAL FIELD DAY will
be held in the grounds of Timahoe N.S., by kind permission
of Fr. Ramsbottom and Seamus Lynch, on Sunday, 23rd. June.
We can guarantee you and your family a great afternoon,
with many new and novel events. We greatly appreciate
your help, donations and support over the five years,
since Timahoe Community Development Council was founded,
in 1997. A member of our committee will call to your house
soon, seeking donations of bottles, books and bric-a-brac.
Every little helps!
The Field Day is our MAJOR ANNUAL
FUNDRAISER towards achieving our main goal, building
a Community House in Timahoe, to meet and serve the many
needs of our rapidly growing community.
Please come along, at 2.30 p.m., on Sunday,
23rd June, to enjoy yourself and to support our efforts.
O.A.K. PARTNERSHIP AND KILDARE V.E.C
Many thanks to Paula McEvoy for researching,
compiling and organising the
Car Treasure Trail, held on Sunday, 23rd,
May. Excitement ran high, as each team left with the 50
clues, which took them in a loop through Clane, Sallins,
Carragh and back to Timahoe. Timing was important, but
accuracy was essential. Excitement ran high, as answers
were disputed and debated, but all agreed it was a most
enjoyable afternoon.
First Prize: Gail, Paddy
& family
Second Prize: Trish, Gerry & Family.
The Parenting Teens Course held
it's sixth and final session on Thursday, 3Oth May. We
wish to acknowledge O.A.K., whose funding made this course
possible and also, Brenda Kennedy, facilitator, who presented
a structured and informative course.
The Personal Development
Course, facilitated by Catherine Leonard, was enlightening
and enjoyable. Kelly's Kitchen was transformed into a safe
haven for the eight sessions, with gentle candlelight, soothing,
scented oils and relaxing background music. Catherine's
calm manner lent a serenity that added to the overall atmosphere.
This course was organised by the Women's Group and funded
by the dept. of Social, Community & Family Affairs. Each
and every one of the participants benefited from the course
content, the support offered by the group and the ambience
of the setting.
