November Mona Newsletter

___________November Timahoe News_________

The Step Ahead Maths Programme took off to a flying start, on Wednesday 21st October, in Peter’s Lounge. A small but lively group proved that you can laugh and learn at the same time, and hopes are high that their enthusiasm and interest will see them through the 10 week programme, which is provided by Timahoe Branch as a free service to the community. Many thanks to Peter Burke for permitting use to use his newly decorated lounge.

Timahoe and District Gun Club are holding a Poker Classic on Friday 20th Nov. The event will take place in Brady’s of Timahoe and will start at 8.00pm sharp. The tickets cost 20 and there is 500.00 in prize money. The tickets are available from club members.

1st of November is the first day of the shooting season and the Timahoe lads from the Timahoe & District Gun Club had a great time. After a hard days shoot the lads met up in Brady’s for the well earned pint, but the highlight of the day and night is the judging for the "BEST LOOKING BIRD". The winner this year was David Flaherty with a tight second going to David Heffernan. Believe it or not, that’s not all the lads look for in a "Bird". They also like a "LONG TAIL" and the longest tail went to both David Flaherty and John Casey, who shared 1st place. A good night was had by the lads with plenty of "TALL TALES" told.

Over the next few weeks, news-boxes will appear in the local schools. These boxes are going to be a collection point for any news, articles, poems, etc or maybe you just want to let off steam about something that drives you mad. If you have anything you want printed in the Newsletter just drop it in the News-box, or give the item to a child to post into the box for you. And remember kids, we want to hear from you as well. Maybe you have a letter to Santa that you want us to print for you or maybe you have a poem. Remember the Newsletter is there for you. So use it and start by getting those stories into us.

The draw results for the month of September are as follows:

50. Angela Mooney

10. Each to Andrew Flaherty, Seamus Heffernan and James Carey.
