TABLE QUIZ

Dessie and Tom, the "Derry Devils", hosted the June Table Quiz on the 29th June. They impressed all present with their unique variety of questions. We may have been stunned ….. but not into silence. Once again, controversy reigned, friendly rivalry was much in evidence and Kelly's Hob was electric with the buzzing of collective brain searching. Why not treat yourself to an uplifting experience in July, on Friday the 27th when Gerry Woods will be the quizmaster. Savor the atmosphere while supporting our efforts to raise funds to build our much needed Community House.

WELL DONE

The multi-talented, versatile Elaine Kane ended a chapter in her book of life when she bid a fond farewell to her young play school friends. For many years Elaine has provided a safe, caring and happy environment where toddlers experienced positive learning, through play and social interaction. Her creativity, kindness, sense of humour and above all, her patience enriched the lives of her pupils. As a community we are indebted to her. We wish her good luck in her future ventures and continued success in her musical productions.

FIELD DAY

When going to press, the planning aspects of the 4th annual Timahoe Field Day were beginning to come together and like a jig-saw, we hope they will make a full picture on the July 8th. We tapped into the talents, organisational skills, experience and expertise of our community. Much hard work and effort has gone into making our Field Day an enjoyable family day. We appreciate the generosity of our sponsors - a full list will be published in the next issue of the MONA - and we value and acknowledge the energy of our committee and helpers. To Miss Nimble Fingers herself, Pauline Mahoney - we hope your hands have recovered.

TIR NA MONA JAMBOREE

The Tir na Mona Jamboree is scheduled for Saturday, August 25th. It is a wonderful opportunity for friends - new and old - to mix and mingle; an opportunity to meet people from neighbouring areas, swap stories, catch up on the news and test out St. Kevin's new, top of the range dance floor. Tickets will be available shortly through the area groups. So be sure to put the date in your diary and come along for a great night out.

ACTIVE AGE GROUP

The topic of conversation at the Timahoe Active Age June Get Together was the Summer Trip. The ingredients are a balanced blend of action and relaxation, history, culture and the environment, enjoyment with a sprinkling of good humour and friendship….. a sure fire recipe for success. Leaving Kelly's at 9.30 a.m., a fun-filled, memorable dat is anticipated, courtesy of our community, who supported the weekly Saturday Lotto. This, along with the counter Bottle Collection, have provided full funding for the trip. We appreciate your generosity. We will raise our glasses to you, in Athlone, on July 11th, under Ger Kelly's watchful eye. Ger is coming along to make sure we behave ourselves.

COMMUNITY ALERT

Don’t forget that it is up to all of us to look out for the more vulnerable in our neighbourhood. If you see something suspicious phone your local community alert contact or Paddy Maher at 086 –2582320.
