County Kildare Leader Partnership
County Kildare LEADER Partnership is one of over fifty Local Development Companies in Ireland. It isresponsible for the delivery of a range of rural, enterprise, social inclusion, and community development initiatives in County Kildare.
The key features of a Local Development Company are:
- Bottom up approach – working with communities to develop local solutions to local issues
- Focus on promoting local economic development
- Focus on addressing inequality and social exclusion
- A voluntary board of directors with representatives from the community and voluntary sector, statutory sector, social partners and local authority.
The Company was established on 1st January 2009 and is the result of an amalgamation of a number of organisations and their activities including KELT, the Kildare Community Partnership (KCP) and the County Kildare based section of OAK Partnership. County Kildare LEADER Partnership is now continuing this work through the Rural Development Programme (LEADER), the Local Community and Development Programme and other supporting programmes in empowering local communities to improve their quality of life. This support comes in a variety of ways including grant aid to innovative rural business and communities and development officer support to disadvantaged or marginalised communities and individuals.
The Board of Directors of the County Kildare Leader Partnership has representatives from the Community, Social Partnership, Local Government and Statutory Agencies. The Board has responsibility for strategy and direction, working with the chief executive officer, senior managers and staff to deliver the goals of the company.
