Match report 01/12/2007

Kynog Utd  5 v Athgarvan Villa 2

Athgarvan made the trip in bad weather to Kynog and put up a great fight against the

home team who were striving to maintain a 100% home record. Once again a large crowd braved the elements and they were not disappointed with a seven goal thriller.

Athgarvan started strongly and Lee Dempsey in the Kynog goal had to be at his best

to keep out Athgarvan captain Darragh Smyth. It was no surprise that Athgarvan opened the scoring after a great run and shot by Ben Moran. Kynog captain Brian Elliott lifted his troops and Conor Murray & Conor Donoghue began to take control in midfield and a great cross from Darragh lynch sat Gary Harnett up to blast to the net. Kynog were now being fired up by Adam Cully & Eoin Kelly and a great pass to Joseph Kenny saw him get his first of the day . Half time saw Kynog lead 2-1.

The second half saw Kynog attack and Dave Craddock in the Athgarvan goal was playing the game of his life making brave saves but he could not keep Joseph Kenny out and he put kynog two up. Athgarvan came right back and despite a brave effort from Dylan Donoghue who was a rock at the heart of the Kynog defence Athgarvan got there second through Rory Keogh.

Colm Staines , Declan reilly and Luke Herbert came on for Kynog and they pushed Kynog forwards and Adam lynch got the goal his played deserved. A long shot from Joseph Kenny deflected to the net gave the score line a false luck.

Man of the match for Kynog was shared between Conor donoghue & Conor Murray

Who never stopped running the whole match
