Under 11 Match Report V Sallins Celtic

 U11 MAJOR DIVISION

KYNOG UTD 5  V Sallins Celtic 2

Finally the season got under way again and Sallins made the trip to Kynog park. Both teams were mid table so it promised to be a good match. Conditions were heavy under foot with a strong wing but both teams were determined to make a good start.
Kynog were first to make the break through with Brian Mc Grath linking with Conor Donoghue who slotted home his first goal.

Sallins playing into the wind took the game to Kynog and only good defending from Eoin Kelly and the Rock Dylan Donoghue kept Sallins out but just before half time Sallins got the equaliser they deserved from Jason Mair.

Kynog came flying out for the second half and that man Conor donoghue finished off a great moving from Gary Harnett to put Kynog ahead. Straight from kick off Brian Mc Grath chased the ball down and put Kynog further ahead. To be fair Sallins through Mitchell Ewulonce and Christ Buazi kept balling away and good saves from Lee Dempsey in the kynog goal kept them out.

On the break Luke Herbet sat Conor Murray up for two well taken goals and Kynog were safe. Sallins battled on and a pile driver from Greg Mc Donald kept them in the game. Man of the match was impossible with so many good players on both sides.

U14 Kynog United V Kill Celtic

Saturday 26th Janurary
U14 Major Division
Kynog United 3
Kill Celtic 1

Kynog Park was in great condition after the recent adverse weather and both teams were eager to play football. Whilst the pitch was in excellent condition the strong winds had an effect on the game. Playing into the wind Kill Celtic opened the scoring in the 3rd minute when James Condon beat his marker and shot beyond Cian Gilligan in the Kynog goal. Kill had the better of the early exchanges with Stephen Skelton prominent in attack. Steadily Kynog began to win more possession in midfield through Martin Baneham and Eamon Cox. Shane Merriman fed Blaine Treacy whose shot was well saved by Nathan Fitzharris. Kynog United continued to create chances with Ciaran Baselmans and Gavin Crowe going close. The equaliser arrived in the 27th minute direct from a Gavin Crowe corner. Kill Celtic responded but found the Kynog defence well marshalled by Jack Kenny in determined mood.
The second half saw Kill on the attack in the early stages with Stephen Skelton forcing Cian Gilligan to tip his shot over the crossbar. From the resulting corner Gilligan bravely claimed the ball and released it allowing Kynog to string a series of passes together and Shane Merriman found Conor Staines who beat two defenders before calmly finding the back of the net. As Kill went in search of an equalizer gaps were going to appear in their defence but Luke Comiskey was having an excellent game in the right full back position. The final goal of the afternoon arrived in the 60th minute when Kynog were awarded a penalty for hand ball and Jack Kenny duly converted it. The remaining minutes saw the home team defending their lead. Best for Kill were Nathan Fitzharris and Luke Comiskey, Whilst the home team were best served by Jack Kenny and Martin Baneham.
