Under 11 Kynog United V Prosperous

Kynog Utd U11 Prosperous 2 Kynog 5 Kynog knew that the last game of the season gave them the chance to win the major league in there first year in existence. A large crowd was present for the local derby and both teams deserve credit for providing huge entertainment and a closely fought match. Kynog had the first chance when pressue from Gary Harnett saw him win the ball and his shot was just wide. A corner came for Kynog and a great cross from Brian mcgrath was met full on by Joseph kenny to put Kynog ahead. Tim Barrett and Luke Harmon were keeping properous in it and only Lee Dempsey in the kynog goal stopped wesley heavey from equalising. Great pressure from Adam lynch saw him win a ball and neatly slot it past the advancing keeper. Kynog kept the pressure on and a pass to conor murray put Kynog 3 up at half time. The second half was not long on when joseph kenny got his second and fourt for kynog which was the result of a great pass from conor donoghue, Now playing with the wind prosperous brough on emmet and a free was won which Wesley heavey curled into the top corner and despite a great effort from Darragh lynch the ball was over the line. Propserous were now playing there best football and only great defending from eoin kelly , Brian elliott and the rock Dylan Donoghue kepy kynog ahead. Kynog finally broke and a lovely link between Colm Staines to Adam cully to declan reilly sat Brian Mcgrath up and kynog were safe. Under 10 Kynog United V Kill Celtic

Kill Celtic 3-1 Kynog United

With a large number of call-offs, Kynog’s U10’s travelled to Kill in hope with only 8 players, 3 of whom were brought up from the U8 team. The match started with Kill pressing Kynog back and only some fine defending from Joey Toman and Ross Phelan and some fine saves from debutant keeper Mark Maguire kept Kill out in a frantic few minutes. This was the pattern for the remainder of the first half with Kynog’s midfield of Adam Toman, Craig Harris and Johnny Byrne closing down every Kill attack and the Kynog defence throwing themselves in front of any chances that Kill created to keep the score at 0-0 at half-time.

As the second half opened, Kynog broke out of their defensive shell and created a number of attacks with U8’s Brian Crosse and Josh Harris refusing to be overawed by the physically stronger Kill defenders and playing some nice passing football. Having just played themselves into the game, cruel luck hit Kynog when a Kill midfield clearance flew over everyones heads and found the top corner of the net. Kynog continued to refuse to let Kill dominate the game, but were unable to stop Kill from extending their lead after a well worked Kill move saw a confident finish from the Kill forward. Unlike previous matches, the second goal was not a sign for Kynog to let their heads go down, typified by the effort and endeavour of Adam Toman who was everywhere and got their reward when a Joey Toman clearance eluded everyone and fell at the feet of Brian Crosse who coolly slotted home. Kynog could sense a result and put everything into getting an equaliser, but it was not to be, and with the last action of the match, Kill scored a fantastic third goal moving the ball quickly from player to player before an excellent finish saw the final score 3-1.

While they lost the match, enormous credit must go to every player who wore a Kynog shirt for the effort and commitment they showed and for some of the flashes of passing football which are a positive sign for the future.

Under 10 Kynog United V Sallins Celtic

Sallins Celtic 2-6 Kynog United

Kynog’s youngsters put in their best performance of the season at Sallins on Sunday. They started strongly, pressing Sallins back and creating a number of chances from Josh Harris’s corners, and finally going ahead as Adam O’Brien scored from wide on the left. Shortly after, they doubled their lead when Johnny Byrne forced home another corner from close range, and straight from kick-off, Joshua Lee added a third from wide on the left. Kynog were completely in control and added a fourth from Adam O’Brien before half-time from another corner.

Into the second half and Johnny Byrne added a fifth with a great solo effort, while Ciaran Casey was unlucky not to add a sixth. Sallins got onto the score sheet from the penalty spot after a trip in the penalty box and the game was even for a few minutes until Josh Harris added a sixth. With seconds to go, Sallins added a second penalty with the last kick of the match to round out a match that was excellent entertainment and played in a sporting manner by both teams.
