Under 12 Kynog United V Clane

Kynog Utd 1 Clane United 1

On a frosty morning at Kynog park both teams served up a very exciting game of football in front of a large crowd. With the sun shining the young lads played a lovely free flowing game of fottball in great spirits between these neighbours . Clane pressed forward driven on by David o leary and Brian Mc Grath in the Kynog goal was up to the task and a long ball was knocked down by Ade Teriba to Lee dempsey and his run on goal was saved by the clane goaly Osin Mc kenna who was making his appearance for the first time in the clane goal. End to end stuff and the Kynog backline of Eoin kelly, Joseph kenny, dylan donoghue and Gerry melia were up to every thing Clane could throw at them . Just before half time a good run fron Adam lynch was again saved and from the corner the rock dylan Donoghue headed powerfully home to give Kynog the lead.

Clane were on top in the second half and only Conor Murray, Ricky O Neilla and conor donoghue who were at the top of there game were keeping Clane out. Eventually Clane pressure paid off amd they won a penalty which was expertly dispatched by Luka Lehana to draw level. Both teams went for the win and Kynoh threw on Adam cully and David Dunne and nearly snatched a winner . A draw was a fair result and both teams went home happy

Under 13 Kynog United V Bush Celtic

Saturday 24th January
U13 Major Division

Kynog Utd  6
Bush Celtic 1

What started out as a frosty morning with doubt as to games going ahead, the morning sunshine was a welcome visitor to Kynog park as Kynog U13 team took to the field in this their first game of the new year, With the Kynog lads hungry for a game, its was the home team who started the stronger immediately putting on the pressure on the visitors with the opening goal arriving in the 2nd minute when a Evan Treacy corner was deflected into the back of the net. Shane Morrisons was causing the Bush defence all sorts of problems as the left wingers trickery and movment was unstopable. David Hayes almost doubled the home sides scoring as his shot went narrowly wide in the 12th minute. 2 minutes later Evan Dempsey headed the ball just clipping the post. With the Home team dominating the game Bush Celtics Jack Monaghan was making some crucal interceptions. Kevin Sheridan Doubled the home team advantage with some great control and calm finashing. Bush Celtic responded minutes later with a well taken free kick which was cleared off the line by Shane Morrison. The goal of the day arrived in the 25th minute when David Hayes was fed a through ball from Evan Dempsey , Hayes whose shot was taken from some distance left the supporters in awe as it travelled over the Bush keeper and into the back of the net. The second half started with Bush responding well with Harry Dolan keeping the striking duo of Casey and McGrath at bay. Bushs persistance paid with a well dererved goal hit low under the Kynog keeper Ross Maher. Kynogs brillant passing and movement paid off as Robert Beirne linked up with Ryan Casey who scored from close range. The home teams pressure cotinued with further goals arriving from an Evan Dempsey defelcted cross and David Hayes Kynog Man of the Match finishing the scoring on the day . Credit to the visitors who never gave up as the scoreline doesnt reflect the game with Colin O Mordhain and Harry Dolan best for Bush.

Under 11 Kynog United V Kilcullen

Kynog Utd 1- 2 Kilcullen

Kynog entertained Kilcullen on Saturday at Kynog Park. Kynog started slowly and Kilcullen pressed them back forcing the Kynog defenders to defend deep. Just as Kynog were forcing themselves into the match, Kilcullen took the lead when Lorcan Mason's long throw eluded the defenders and Conor Kelly fired home. Kynog pushed for an equalizer and Glen Thorpe was denied by Kilcullen keeper Brendan O'Riordan. Kynog were on top for a spell and Adam Toman and Thorpe linked up to release Craig Harris whose cross just eluded the inrushing Adam Lynch. With the game finely balanced it was Kilcullen who broke and Alex Waters fired home to take Kilcullen into half-time with a two goal lead.

The second half was mostly dominated by Kynog with Kilcullen trying to hit on the break. Kynog had a chance to get themselves into the game when Cathal Mattimoe was puled down in the box but his penalty was saved by the keeper. Within a matter of minutes Kynog had got their goal and it was Mattimoe who scored it, running on to an Adam Lynch pass to fire home. Kynog had the wind in their sails now, and Kilcullen were defending deeper and deeper as the second half wore on. Jack Clarke had his shot well saved and a corner resulted in a number of Kynog players all having chances that just wouldn't go in. Just as time was running out, Kynog had one more chance to grab an equalizer as the ball was handled in the box, however it was not to be, as with the keeper beaten, the ball came back off the post and was scrambled clear to leave Kilcullen with the win.

Under 8 Kynog United V Sallins

Kynog Utd 5 - 3 Sallins Celtic

From the kick-off, Kynog went straight into attack and only a fine block by Aaron Dalton prevented Kynog from taking an early lead. Sallins played themselves into the game and they took the lead as Mobesayo Awomewe picked up a loose ball inside the box, stepped past his marker and fired into the corner. Kynog roared back in the second quarter and came close on a number of occaisions with Micheal Cummins being particularly unlucky, however they couldn't make the breakthrough as Sallins went into half-time with their lead intact.

The second half opened in the same way as the first, with Kynog on the attack, and when they forced a corner, a quick short corner caught Sallins out, and when Josh Harris's shot was blocked on the line, Shane O'Connor was on hand to slam the ball in. Kynog were on top now, and they took the lead after a lovely passing move down the left ended with Joshua Lee setting Shane O'Connor up to finish well. It was no surprise when Kynog extended their lead, as Ciaran Casey fired home after some extended pressure, and directly from the kick-off, Justin Reilly intercepted a pass and ran through to fire his team into a 4-1 lead. The start of the last quarter saw a lovely move from Kynog with Josh Harris ghosting past three players before finding Shane O'Connor whose cross was turned narrowly wide by Ciaran Casey. Kynog took their foot off the gas and Sallins got themselves back into the game through Rory Gavin, but Justin Reilly put the game beyond them with his
second, although there was still time for Sallins to add a third through Lukas Maher to leave the final score at 5-3 to Kynog, and the crowd thoroughly entertained.

Under 15 Kynog United V Moone Celtic

Saturday 17th January
Under 15
Kynog Utd 1
Moone Celtic 5

This match was played in blustery conditions as both teams struggled to come to terms with the strong winds. The opening period was evenly contested although Moone enjoyed more position around the middle of the park. Then in the 12th minute following a Tony Kealy goal kick which deceived the home defence Mickey Wall was on hand to slot the ball past Cian Gilligan. A few minutes later the Kynog keeper made an excellent save low to his left. Kynog responded with a Donal McGrath shot comfortably dealt with by Tony Kealy. Moone Celtic doubled their advantage in the 27th minute following good work by Emmett O Keeffe and Tomas Murphy. The visitors were passing the ball better and their movement was causing the home team problems. Shortly before half time Conor Staines shot narrowly wide following a through ball from Donal McGrath. The second half saw the home team push back Moone Celtic in the early stages and Conor Staines shot narrowly over following an Adrian Moran pass. Their pressue was rewarded in the 55th minute when a Shane Merriman corner was volloyed in to the corner of the net by Donal McGrath. Moone Celtic put the the game beyond doubt with two quick goals in the next six minutes. The game became more stretched as Kynog went in search of consolation goal. However the days scoring was completed by the visitors in the 75th minute. Best for the home team were Cian Gilligan and Conor Staines.

Kynog United V Newbridge Town

Kynog Utd 2 - 0 Newbridge Town

The first match of the new year saw Kynog welcome Newbridge to Timahoe on a cold windy morning. Playing with the wind in the first half, Newbridge started strongly and penned Kynog back as they looked for an early goal and it took some fine defending from David Randles, Ross Phelan and Joey Toman at the heart of the Kynog defence to keep them out. Midway through the first half, the Kynog keeper, Reece Winders had to be out quickly to save as Dylan Halligan made a great run down the right. Kynog created few chances in the first half, but they were unlucky when a nice passing move involving Craig Harris and Glen Thorpe saw an Adam Lynch shot well saved. With only a few minutes of the first half remaining Newbridge had the best chance of the half from a corner, only for Ross Phelan and then Gerry Melia to clear off the line to leave the match finely balanced at half-time.

Into the second half and Kynog started brightly with Adam Lynch, Glen Thorpe and Cathal Mattimoe all going close before a long ball out of defence found the well timed run of Adam Toman and he finished coolly to give Kynog the lead. Kynog continued to create chances to extend their lead but fine defending from Newbridge, particularly Dylan Kieran at the heart of their defence, kept the game on a knife edge as Newbridge looked dangerous on the break. With the last kick of the match, Kynog put the game beyond Newbridge as left-back Graham Beirne picked up a clearance and with a fantastic solo effort, ran the length of the pitch and slammed the ball high into the net. In difficult conditions, both teams should take great credit for playing some neat passing football which kept the crowd entertained throughout.
