Under 13 Kynog United V Athy Cup match

Kynog 0 Athy 4

Athy made this long journey to Kynog for this cup match. Athy were always favourite to come out on top of this game and within the first few minutes of kick off Athy had their first chance at goal when a through ball was played between the Kynog backline and Michael Kelly was all set to score only for the brave goal keeping of Kynog goalie Lee Dempsey.
Kelly was always going to be a thorn in the side of the Kynog defence marshalled by Daragh Lynch and Dylan Donoghue and it wasnt long before he got on the score sheet by rounding the Kynog keeper to camly slot the ball home.
Kynog were now aware of the challange that faced them and the backline had to be very alert to keep the Athy attack to a minimum.
Joe Kenny in the Kynog midfield was getting to grips with the job in hand and played some lovely passes out to the Kynog forwards of Adam Cully and Dean Bowers however the two Foley boys in the Athy defence were always aware and ready to deal with the Kynog attack.
Some dominant play be Athy saw them make it 2 nil again from the man Kelly.
Kynog made the introduction of Brian McGrath and Conor Murray at half time and the game started to even out. Athy were always hungry for more goals but so were Kynog and had two great chances through John Drennan to get back into the game, one a goal line clearance and the other a diving header just missed by the in rushing Conor Murray.
Athy went on to win this game comfortably in the end and deservatly so, but the Kynog lads can feel a great job was done today and they went toe to toe with the Premier league leaders and gave them a good game of football in a very sporting contest.
Well done to both teams. Best for Athy were the Foley boys in the backs and hatrick hero Michael Kelly while Kynog were best served by Jack Byrne David Lee & Eoin Kavanagh

Overnight rain had left Kynog park in perfect condition for this local
derby and neither team disappointed. The opening minutes were very even
until the 13th when a super ball from johnny byrne released adam lynch who
lobbed the ball over the advancing keeper to take the lead.Prosperous came
back very stong and on twenty minutes got there deserved goal from jamie
doyle. They kept up this pressure and took the lead through james ansell 5
minutes later and kept this till half-time.Kynog raised there game second
half and with good build up play from jamie adams who found adam lynch and
his superb finish leveled the scores.10 minutes into the half adam thoman
made it 3-2 to the home side scoring directly from a corner but this was
held onto for only 3 minutes as prosperous leveled it again. with both
sides pushing for the win it was unfortunate for the visiting side that
they conceded an own goal to give kynog the points despite some good
performances in particular from sean keogh in defence. The home side had
joey thoman in goals to thank for an excellent performance ensuring all 3

Under 12 Kynog United V Clane

Kynog Utd 4 – 2 Clane

In perfect conditions for football, Kynog started brightly and went ahead as an Adam Toman’s through ball found Johnny Byrne who rounded the keeper to roll the ball home.  Clane got themselves level within minutes as Dylan Devine scored from close range. The game was flowing from end to end with goalkeepers Joey Toman of Kynog and Andy Watson of Clane pulling off good saves to keep the scores level. It was Kynog, however, who took the lead again when Johnny Byrne scored from 20 yards with a powerful strike, and Kynog extended their lead when Johnny Byrne was tripped in the box before converting the penalty for a deserved hat-trick. Clane weren’t going to lie down though and got themselves back into the match as Dale Maguire finished a fine move by lobbing the ball over the outrushing keeper to leave Kynog with a slender lead at half-time.

Clane dominated the second half and it took some fine defending from Craig Harris and Gerry Melia at the heart of the Kynog defence to keep them out. With Clane pushing forward looking for the equalizer, Kynog broke quickly and Jamie Adams ran on to a through ball to finish well to put the game beyond them.
