Liz McDonnell 5k Run

The Liz McDonnell 5k run takes place in the beautiful grounds of Casteltown House on Saturday 3rd of October 2009.

Now in its fifth year the Liz McDonnell 5k race proves popular with runners, joggers and walkers of all abilities and all ages. Since its inauguration in 2005, the numbers have grown year on year, and last year saw nearly 800 participants complete the course.

Although classed as a cross country event, the course is very flat and run mainly on grass and parkland paths.

Entry to the race is by donation on the day or sponsorship card (available by eMailing info@lizmcdonnellrun.com ).

All proceeds from the race will be donated to ARC cancer care - a charity that offers professional support to people affected by cancer and those who care for them. www.arccancersupport.ie

About Liz McDonnell
Elisabeth McDonnell died in July 2005 at the age of eighteen, from malignant melanoma.
A student at St. Wolstan's Community School, she was a distinguished member of its camogie and hockey teams. Also a member of Celbridge Camogie club, the multi talented Liz won many honours during her short life.

Her main talents lay in athletics and especially cross country running in which she won awards up to national level.
