The three Kildare-based writers featured in the new anthology of Irish writing Original Sins, edited by Suzanne Power and John MacKenna, will read from their stories in the book at a special event in Barker & Jones bookshop, Naas, Co. Kildare.

Original Sins was launched on 8th April in St Kieran’s College, Co. Kilkenny. The book includes short stories and poetry by 22 new authors. The three Kildare writers are Ilona Blunden (Kilcullen), Jeanne Beary (Naas) and Valerie Ryan (Naas).
Two of the writers in the anthology, Pat Griffin and Ilona Blunden, were shortlisted for the 2011 RTÉ Radio 1 Francis MacManus Short Story Competition, with Pat taking 2nd prize and winning €2,000.
The short stories began broadcasting on RTE Radio 1 each night from 6th June. Two of the writers, Jeanne Beary and Ilona Blunden, are featured in Stories for the Ear (vol. 2) which was launched by actor Tom Hickey at the Kildare Readers Festival in the Riverbank Arts Centre last month.
