KELT is the County Kildare Leader Company and its job is to identify, support and fund eligible projects. It operates under a scheme of regulations and its Directors are people who are working on a voluntary basis to foster rural development.
Board members are drawn from different backgrounds and represent various geographic areas and sectors. Their job is to ensure KELT is successful in supporting and funding innovative projects that will help Kildare people and boost local economies.
KELT has just secured £4 million in Leader Plus Funding for County Kildare, and this EU funding for Rural Development will cover the period 2000 - 2006.
Under this programme KELT will be focussing on Quality of Life issues with initiatives to integrate Information and Communications Technology into rural life.
