Local Food and Community Garden Project in Celbridge

Unemployed? Retired? Looking for practical skills you can learn?

Would you like to learn how to ‘Grow Your Own’ vegetables & fruit?

THE ACRE LOCAL FOOD & GARDENING PROJECT

The ACRE Project is launching their new initiative, a Local Food and Community Garden Project. This project is aimed at people who are currently unemployed and looking for a constructive and practical project to take on at this time.

This project is FREE OF CHARGE.

The project will start in FEBRUARY 2014.

The project aims to teach participants how to grow a variety of vegetables, fruit  and herbs from seed to harvest, learning how to sow seeds, grow and maintain the plants and harvest, store and cook the produce. Alongside this participants will learn how to grow vegetables in a polytunnel, how to build and maintain a compost bin, how to make naturally found organic fertilisers and pest controls and how to save seed. The project is also open to other ongoing projects that participants are interested in working on such as making plant propagators, building cloches, making garden benches; the limit is the groups imagination!
