Patch Tyre Equipment continue to support growing Saloon Race Series

The second season of the Patch Fiesta Championship

Co. Kildare company, Patch Tyre Equipment based in Clane, announced their continuation as title sponsor of Mondello Park’s budget saloon racing series for identical Ford Fiestas at a launch in the Naas Court Hotel on Friday March 7th.

Patch also supported the series in its inaugural season in 2013 and their backing was instrumental in getting the championship off the ground so spectacularly. Having only been announced in late 2012 the championship was comfortably Ireland's biggest racing class by the end of the season with over fifty drivers registered and more than forty competing regularly.

During its opening season the progress of the series was such that by the end of 2013 it received an invitation to be part of the British Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch, an invitation which has been extended once again this season.

“We are delighted to be involved with such a successful championship”, said Patch Tyre Equipment MD Brian Matthews speaking at the series launch. “It definitely boosted our profile and increased our business last year and we expect this to continue for 2014.”

“The championship has been a huge success”, said Mondello MD, John Morris. “With over 40 drivers last year, most of them novices, and a potential of well over 50 cars on track this time around. The secret is that the cars are completely standard with very equal performance, and some have been built for as little as €2,000!”

The second season of the Patch Fiesta Championship will run over ten rounds at seven events at Mondello Park, starting on Sunday the 16th March. All rounds will be streamed live by Mondello Park’s live streaming channel Mondello.TV and the series will also be supported by Toyo Tyres, The Newtone Group and Mondello Park.
