Murtagh eyes big prizes at the Curragh

This Sunday 23rd March

TRAINER Johnny Murtagh has his eyes firmly set on the main prizes at the Curragh on Sunday with We’ll Go Walking, Purr Along and Calorie, who all did their final pieces of work this morning and very much pleased their handler.

“They all worked very well and We’ll Go Walking will take her chance in the www.thetote.com Irish Lincolnshire,” said Murtagh today. “The mile trip may be a bit short for her but she is very well and ready for a run. She is a robust filly and should handle the ground.”

Purr Along holds an engagement in the Group Three Lodge Park Stud EBF Park Express Fillies Stakes and the daughter of Mount Nelson was reported to be “well forward” by her trainer. “She is a lovely filly and there is a good chance that she will take her chance on Sunday as it is a Group Three race and is restricted to fillies,” commented Murtagh. “We will make our mind up nearer the time, but she would not run if the ground happened to come up heavy.”

Calorie, meanwhile, is engaged in both the Johnny Murtagh Lifetime Achievement  In Racing Madrid Handicap and the Elusive Pimpernel Maiden. “Calorie is fit and well and is ready to start off,” said Murtagh. “I will speak to the owner first before we decide which race she should go for.”
