There are a number of grants, administered by Kildare County Council, that Heritage organisations may wish to apply to for Heritage projects in 2018
The objective of the grant scheme is to promote interest, education, knowledge and enjoyment by facilitating an appreciation of the heritage of County Kildare. Applications are invited for community heritage projects which will benefit or relate to at least one of the aspects of heritage as set out in the Heritage Act 1995.

Built Heritage Investment Scheme 2018
The Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys TD announced recently that the Built Heritage Investment Scheme and Structures at Risk Fund will operate again in 2018. This scheme, with funding of €3.3million, aims to support a significant number of labour-intensive, small-scale conservation projects across the country.

European Year of Cultural Heritage (EYCH) Community Heritage Grant Scheme 2018
To Mark the European Year of Cultural Heritage (EYCH) in 2018, the Heritage Council are focusing their Community Heritage Grant Scheme on the theme Make a Connection, to encourage communities throughout Ireland to build heritage connections that will last long beyond the year.
The scheme aims to:
- promote appreciation and enjoyment of heritage, to make a lasting difference to heritage, people and communities,
- promote a bottom up approach to heritage management, and
- reach out to new audiences by telling heritage stories in innovative ways to stimulate public interest and engagement.
The scheme is open to:
- not-for-profit voluntary and community groups, and
- heritage-related non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

Historic Towns Grant Scheme
Historic Towns Initiative will allocate a sum of €1 million to up to a maximum of ten historic towns who are engaged in heritage-led urban regeneration.
A total fund of €1,000,000 (capital funding) is available to local authorities under the Historic Towns Initiative (HTI).
Each local authority may put forward one application for funding under the HTI 2018 for a historic town in their functional area.
Priority will be given to applications that are ‘plan-led’, i.e. in line with a HTI Management Plan based on the HTI framework, or a Conservation Plan, or a Public Realm Plan, or eligible actions from a Town Centre Health Check Plan, or equivalent.
A workshop will be held in the Heritage Council’s offices in Kilkenny on Thursday 25th January 2018 for local authority personnel interested in applying for the HTI 2018.
