Volunteers Wanted to help preserve Lodge Bog

An exciting restoration programme on a peatland reserve in Co. Kildare is being organised during Heritage Week by the Irish Peatland Conservation Council. The programme involves damming drains on Lodge Bog, in order to stem the flow of water from the site. For anyone with an interest in nature conservation, this is a great opportunity to be actively involved in the restoration of a raised bog, one of our most threatened habitats.

If you would like to volunteer on any day during Heritage Week, which runs from Saturday 26th August until Sunday 3rd September, please contact Caroline Hurley, Conservation Officer with IPCC, on 045-860133 to find out more and book your place. Volunteers will need to be in reasonable condition as the work will be physical and will need to bring warm clothing and wellies.
