Monasterevin St Patricks Day Parade Committee

St. PatrickThe first meeting took place on Tues 30th Jan in the Day care Centre, Monasterevin There was a good attendance.

The folowing committee was formed:

We will have our next meeting on 15th Feb at 8.30pm in Day Care Centre we would love to see some new people on the committee so please come along especially if you are new to Monasterevin. Our flag weekend is this coming week end so please be generous and lets have another great parade.


 We are looking for a marching band that would be available on 17 March this year please contact Sarah 087 2955807


Website Launch for Scoil Bhride Naofa

On Thursday 1st of February Scoil Bhride Naofa launches its new school website - www.kildare.ie/sbn/home.html

New website for Scoil Bhride Naofa


The website has been created by teachers and pupils of the school.   It contains lots of information about the school activities and a calendar of events.  

Visitors to the site are welcome.

kildare.ie Shortlisted for the Irish eGovernment Awards

Irish eGovernment Awards 2007 The kildare.ie website has been shortlisted for an Irish eGovernment Award in the Category "Commercial State Body"

The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, February 22, in the Four Seasons Hotel, Merrion Road, Dublin at 7pm.

The other nominees in this category are:
Dublin Tourism
Bord Gáis Energy Supply
An Post

The Kildare County Library & Arts Service website has also been shortlisted for an award in the category "Accessible".

Who Will Be 2007 Kildare Rose?

"I am delighted to launch the search for the 2007 Kildare Rose" announced Paul Dargan, Rose of Tralee Regional Co-ordinator, "I invite every young woman in Kildare to join us for a fun-filled experience that could lead to being selected International Rose of Tralee!"

"Entry could not be easier. Simply complete an application form and return it to us by 2nd March 2007. We are inviting clubs, societies, associations, businesses, family or friends to nominate a contestant. I am confident we will introduce 20/25 wonderful young women at the Gala Rose Ball in Killashee House on March 24th" and the winning rose will be chosen on our selection night on Sunday 8th April

 

The Rose of Tralee International Festival now in its 48th year is steeped in history and continues to remain in the hearts of the Irish community both in Ireland and overseas.

The festival continues to grow and now incorporates 32 centres from around the island of Ireland and 20 overseas centres.

"The Selection of the Kildare Rose will this year take place in Killashee House Hotel in Naas. Killashee are delighted to to be hosting the Kildare Rose and are ensuring a successful Rose of Tralee in Kildare".

Eligibility criteria for the International Rose of Tralee contest are that entrants must be aged between 18 and 28 years, be of Irish birth or ancestry, be single without children and entrants cannot have previously represented a Centre at the Regional Irish Final or the International Rose of Tralee Selection.

Applications forms are available from Killashee House Hotel or by contacting Paul Dargan on 086 8650714. The closing date for applications is 2nd March 2007.
Our winning Rose will then contest the Irish Regional Final in Limerick City on June 2 and 3.

Newbridge Silverware is lead sponsor of the 2007 Rose of Tralee International Festival, which will take place in Tralee from Friday August 17 to Tuesday August 21. The contest final will be televised live by RTÉ One television on Monday August 20 and Tuesday August 21.

Kildare Volunteer Bureau seek Participation Officer

Kildare Volunteer Bureau

Kildare Volunteer Bureau (KVB) is charged with the development, promotion and support of Volunteer participation in County Kildare. As part of this development KVB in partnership with NUI, Maynooth operate an Outreach Centre in the University.

KVB now wish to recruit a participation officer, to provide the full range of KVB placement services in the Maynooth office. The position is part-time, flexible working options in line with the Academic year are possible.

Participation officer (Part time) fixed term contract to 31st December 2008

The Participation Officer will support the Manager in the development of the Maynooth service.
The role will include working with the Campus community, local voluntary organisations and the corporate sector in identifying and accessing volunteering opportunities. The role will also involve working with KVB management and the Academic Departments on campus to develop suitable volunteering modules for inclusion in existing courses.
We would like to hear from you if you are committed to the concept of volunteerism and can work within a college environment. A good standard of education is required as is experience of working in the voluntary and community sector. You should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills together with relevant IT skills.

Schools Art Competition

Win a Gallery Space for you and your school!!

Riverbank LogoThis is a call for all budding Da Vincis and Picassos. If you have what it takes we want you to demonstrate that to us, by putting pen to paper for Riverbank.

Closing date 1st Feb 2007

 

All you have to do is submit a piece of artwork (anything from ceramic, paint, 3D Model, pastel, photography, mixed media) by 1st Feburary 2007 to Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge.

Individual pieces are what we are looking for, and the winning submission not only wins the use of our Gallery space for their school but also receives an official opening night where you can bring your family and friends to see your work in May 2007!
