Introduction
The county of Kildare combines with Dublin West to form the
FÁS region of Dublin West and Kildare - one of ten such regions
nationwide. The administrative headquarters of the region is
the Ballyfermot Training Centre, where the Regional Director
and a number of the Regional Managers are located. For operational
reasons Kildare is divided into two sub-regions to service the
north and south county respectively. Sub Regional Offices are
located in Celbridge and Naas. FÁS training initiatives are
budgeted at two main priority groups... early school leavers
and the long-term-unemployed.
Community Employment Schemes
Community Employment is a FÁS programme that benefits both the
community and the participants. The projects are involved in
areas such as arts, community recreation, environmental, community
advice and support, schools, tourism, health and welfare services.
CE schemes can provide long term unemployed people with part-time
work opportunities and training/development options and it can
help you into a job and/or further education and training.
