The event recognises the life and work of Michael Collins, the first Commander in Chief of the Irish Defence Forces and, of course, one of the key leaders during the War of Independence.

Michael Collins was born 16th October 1890 so this will be a very special ‘Collins 125’ night of remembrance and, during the course of night, there will be talks and presentations from a range of local and national figures, including Irish Independent columnist and playwright Mary Kenny, former Minister for Justice and Attorney General Michael McDowell and the well-known Kildare local historian, Liam Kenny.

In addition, the Defence Forces are providing a speaker to talk about the restoration of the Slievenamon armed vehicle and, also, the Slievenamon will be on display in the Osprey Hotel car park from 5.30pm onwards that evening.

Memorabilia from this period of our country’s history will also be on display at the event.

Admission to the event is €10 which will include a free commemorative brochure.

Any queries to Martin Condon on 087/2519 833.
