This fantastical exhibition by artist Shona Shirley Macdonald combines two atmospheric and richly detailed visual stories. The first is ‘Juniper’, which is a series of illustrations, depicting the protagonist Juniper and her companions searching through peculiar and threatening landscapes, trying to make sense of their world. First exhibited in Limavady, Northern Ireland in the Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre, this is Shona’s first solo show.

The second story is stop-motion animation ‘The Forest of Cake’, following the curious Grub on his fateful journey out into the bizarre and mysterious forest. ‘The Forest of Cake’ is her graduate film and has been screened in animation festivals in the Uk, Ireland and Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Shona Shirley Macdonald is a Scottish artist based in Co. Waterford. She is a graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, having specialised in stop-motion animation. She now primarily works as an illustrator and is a member of the Illustrators Guild of Ireland. Her illustration projects range from book illustration to concept artwork for theatre and computer games, and she exhibits her artwork nationally and internationally.
