Archives are records of continuing value. They are the raw material of history from which we can study and understand the development of past organisations, communities and individuals.
Fortunately quality archive collections have survived for Co. Kildare. These include material relating to the Grand Jury system, the Boards of Guardians and the Rural District Councils.
Kildare County Council intends to provide public access to these archives on the broadest possible basis in keeping with archival best practice and existing legislation governing access. The County Archive facility will develop as a valuable community resource for local studies and for the wider research community.
