100 walkers to walk from Vienna to Trieste.
100 walkers from around the world have been selected to walk from Vienna to Trieste through 6 countries, starting on 28th July 2014, the Centenary of WW1
The European Peace Walk is a trans-national peace walk going through 6 countries; Austria , Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia , Slovenia and finishing in Trieste in Italy, 23 days and 550 km later.
During the walk there will be cultural exchanges between the the walkers and the various towns and villages passed through and between the walkers of different nationalities.
73 year old Donal Corcoran from Naas is one of the long distance walkers selected. Donal is no stranger to long distance walking, having walked thousands of kms on various Caminos, raising funds for Cancer research and treatment in St James Hospital where his late wife Direen was a patient
Donal has been honoured by being appointed the Irish Ambassador for the Peace Walk.
