The Feile na Sollan traditional cultural festival will be back in Sallins, County Kildare this October, promising a feast of Irish traditional music and cultural activities crammed into a weekend that celebrates all aspects of Irish traditional culture – language, music, dance and song.

Among the highlights of the festival are plenty of Irish trad music sessions in the local pubs, an expo of Irish traditional instrument making, a barge trip on the Grand Canal, music master classes in a choice of instruments, and bilingual workshops in ceili dancing, singing and drumming. Irish language events will include arts and crafts for children, Bricfeasta as Gaeilge, a bilingual family show Sorcas na Samhna (Halloween Circus), a treasure hunt and storytelling for young children. The highlight of the festival will be a Saturday evening gig with Goitse, a hugely popular Irish trad group that are taking Europe by storm this year.  We will see also the return of the popular Gradam na Sollan inter-school competition, where schools from North Co. Kildare, go head-to-head in singing and music competitions, with the winners taking home the Gradam na Sollan award.

Sult na Sollan host a couple of traditional music sessions each month and run Irish classes for adults in Sallins. They also host a weekly ciorcal comhra for Irish speakers on Saturday mornings in Naas and occasionally run Irish language tours and bilingual Irish cultural workshop family events.
