The Bealtaine Festival 1999

BEALTAINE Community Arts Festival, Newbridge, Co. Kildare. 29th April-3rd May

As we approach the third millennium a great hunger to recapture the traditions, heritage and wisdom of our Celtic ancestors is rising within all of us.

This year we are delighted to celebrate our fourth annual Bealtaine Festival which has seen the Arts in Newbridge growing from strength to strength. Once again we celebrate the coming of Summer with all its warmth and promise. We welcome the singers, poets and artists to our town to engage in the madness and mayhem of Bealtaine.

Our first event was the poster competition. All the schools in the area were invited to submit and the artwork we received was stunning and the overall winner is Aisling Curley age 5 who attends Scoil Mhuire Junior School.

Our theme for this year’s festival is simply Bealtaine and we are starting with our exhibitions on Monday 26th of April and we will be ending on Monday 3rd May with the Youth Festival.
