St David's Boxing Club (Naas) coach Paul Archibold said the club was pleased with the performance of their young boxers on Friday, and it was a good build up for the All-Ireland Championships taking place this week. He told KNN that St David's Boxing Club is seeking a permanent 'home' in the town since they had to leave their venue in Devoy Barracks where they had trained for many years. Members now train in a number of venues including the Parish Centre.

Naas boxer Patrick Maye won the Leinster title in March which allowed him go through to the All-Irelands. Patrick was beaten in the semi-finals last year. Patrick Flood (14) lost in the Leinster final and Stephen Hughes won the Laois/Kilkenny/Carlow Championships in Feb/March this year. John Connolly and Patrick Maye brought home two silve rmedals in January from the Michael Andrews Championships. The Naas club is grateful to sponsor Naas Town House Hotel.

Members of St David’s Boxing Club in Naas pictured at the Joe & Peter Cox Memorial Boxing Tournament in Newbridge on Good Friday were coach Noel O’Neill, Patrick Maye (14), Patrick Flood (13) and Stephen Hughes (12) who won his bout on Friday, and coach Paul Archibold.

The National Finals weigh-in took place on Tuesday this week with the contests in this knock out competition taking place during the remainder of this week.
