Big turnout for cancer rally

17 August 2003: There was a large turnout of vehicles for today's rally of vintage cars, tractors and other vehicles which took place in the Kilcullen area in aid of cancer treatment.

The event began in Brannockstown at 12 noon, and the convoy drove to Carnalway, Kilcullen, up to Old Kilcullen and back to the Stray Inn at Brannockstown.

Names such as Fordson, Ferguson, Nuffield, Wahal, Porsche, Styre, David Brown, Rools Royce, Ford, Triumph, Norton and BSA featured amongst the 40-plus vehicles.

The event was organised by local businessmen Norman Eager and Mack Sully, and was run by a committee which includes the proprietor of the Stray Inn, Ger Markey.

A special charity auction in conjunction with the rally was scheduled to take place at the Stray Inn at 6pm.
