Culvert problem causes N9 traffic restriction

CASTLEDERMOT, 21 March 2002: by Brian Byrne. Bridge construction experts will go to Castledermot tomorrow to check on the condition of a stone culvert which has shown signs of damage.

The culvert runs under the main road north of the town and traffic restrictions have been in place since last night pending tomorrow's inspection.

A spokesman for Kildare County Council said this afternnon that the council is preparing a diversion for traffic and signs will soon be in place.

The road is the main throughway to the south of the country, carrying traffic that includes container lorries on their way to Waterford.
