Stagg welcomes confirmation of CPO for relief road

CELBRIDGE, 7 August: by Bill Trapman. Deputy Emmet Stagg has welcomed the decision by An Bord Pleanála to confirm and thereby approve Kildare County Council’s Compulsory Purchase Order to complete the Celbridge Relief Road from the Maynooth Road to the Clane Road at Ballymakealy.

The original CPO had been objected to by the landowners involved and this led to Oral Hearings which were held by An Bord Pleanála last June.

Deputy Stagg in welcoming the decision stated that the completion of the Relief Road would reduce traffic on Main Street and Oldtown Road and would also remove traffic from using the spine road through St. Raphael’s Manor.

Deputy Stagg said that the only other option open to the landowners now was to seek a judicial review of the decision which would have to be lodged within 8 weeks of An Bord Pleanála’s decision. He again called on the landowners involved to allow the CPO to proceed without any further delay in order to provide some traffic relief to Celbridge pedestrians and commuters.
