Gardening meeting in Intel well attended

LEIXLIP, 14 March 2002: by Brian Byrne. Some 280 people attended a recent talk in Leixlip on gardening, held in Intel by the company's Chris Byrne and Tidy Estates Competition Rachael Judge.

In addition to gaining a new perspective on trees and gardening, considerable interest was expressed in composting, and 238 people entered a competition for a free composting bin on the night. Leixlip Town Council provided a display on composting at the event, and convenor of the Leixlip Integrated Waste Initiative Paul Kelly said he was 'most pleased' with the reaction.

"One third of our waste is suitable for composting, and the beauty of it is that after only a few months you get beautiful natural fertiliser for your gardens."

Composting bins are available from Leixlip Town Council at a subsidized cost of 38 euros.
