Environmental grants

21 July 2003: Kildare County Council is to receive grants totalling E7,646, to be spent on a range of different local environmental projects throughout the county.

The funding is being made available under the Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund (LA21EPF) 2003 administered by the Department of the Environment.

The allocations are as follows: Kildare County Council Athy Travellers Club E1,250 ‘Manage your waste – it makes a difference’ Advisory project on waste management within the traveller community.

Ballymore Eustace Community Development Association E500 - ‘Waste not, want not’ Information campaign for local community focussing on waste and recycling.

Down to Earth Theatre Company E1,150 - ‘The round tuit’ Environmental Play.

Eco Unesco E375 - ‘Lifecycle – a glass bottle, battery, an aluminium can – poster’ Information poster on product lifestyles.

IPCC E371 - ‘All about compost – DIY Workshop’ To show people how to recycle organic waste from kitchen/ garden and raise awareness of the positive impact of composting on the environment.

KIWI Kilcock E1,500 - ‘An LA21 Initiative’ Multi-faceted awareness campaign aimed at local community.

National Environment Education Centre (NEEC) E1,500 - ‘Green Teacher’ Education programmes for primary teachers.

Pipa the Clown E1,000 - ‘Piparella and the lost colours’ Create environmental awareness through the arts. The show is directed at children between the ages of 4-10 and aims to encourage children to take an active part in protecting their environment.
