Strong anti-war theme to Feile Brid

KILDARE 16 January 2003: Feile Bride 2003 in Kildare, which begins next Thursday, is the 11th year of the festival, and will include an anti-war conference organised by Afri.

The focal symbolic event will be the lighting of the 'Flame of Peace' in the Market Square on the afternoon of Sunday 26 January.

Other features of the festival include An Afro-Ceile, a workshop on the theme of 'St Brigid - Peacemaker', and a lecture on Cletic times by author John O'Donoghue.

On St Brigid's Day, 1 February, visitors will have the opportunity to trave the 'Footsteps of St Brigid', beginning at the Heritage Centre.

Other items involve the unveiling of a new sculpture of St Brigid by Anne McCormack, and the performance of a new song by Barry Moore which has a peace theme.
