MONASTEREVIN, 15 March 2002: by Brian Byrne. Paddy Corcoran Motors Ltd has been awarded the Fiat franchise for Co Kildare and is opening for business in Monasterevin as Main Dealer for both Fiat cars and Light Commercials. The company may be new but it is headed up by one of the best-known and most respected figures in the Irish motor industry.

Paddy Corcoran has a long and distinguished career in the Irish motor industry since he entered it in the 1960s. He worked with Rover, Land Rover, Volkswagen and Mercedes before joining Fiat Auto Ireland where he was Managing Director from 1989 to 2001. It was during his period as Managing Director that sales of Fiat vehicles in Ireland started their climb to the present-day volumes, the highest in the Company’s history.

Commenting on his transition, he said that it was a major challenge and one he relished. "Having been in the position where I was advising dealers how best to build a business and telling them how customer service was the core value for staying in business, I am really looking forward to the task ahead and practising what I preached for so long,’" he said. "I am also very aware that it is my name over the door and my reputation goes with every car and van we sell, so all our efforts are dedicated to keeping our customers satisfied."

The new company has already recruited key sales and technical staff. Carl Murphy who moved from Ray O’Brien Motors in Newbridge and Rory Corcoran are responsible for sales (Carl has a special knowledge and expertise in Commercial Vehicles) while Jason Page from Kildare town who had worked in Fitzpatrick’s is Service Adviser in the Aftersales Department.
