E72,000 win for Naas man

NAAS 17 February 2003: Retired garda John Harrington won 38,000 euros in cash and a Toyota Celicia car worth another 33,000 euros in Saturday night’s Winning Streak programme on RTE.

A Tipperary man, John has lived in Naas for the past 25 years and was supported in the audience by his wife Phyllis and five of their six children - Sinead, John, Aoife, Orla and Grainne. Another daughter, Eimear, couldn’t make it home in time from New York.

John retired from the Gardai in May of last year after 31 years in the force. Keeping up a long family tradition of service, his son is a student garda based in Raheny - the fifth generation of the Harrington family in the police force.
