KARE has cash crisis

10 April 2003: The County Kildare organisation for people with intellectual disability, KARE, is facing a E200,000 funding shortage for this year.

KARE provides services for 400 people in the region, mostly in County Kildare itself and gets around E100,000 a year from fundraising activities towards its annual E9 million running cost.

No emergency funds are currently available, and the organisation - officially the County Kildare Association for Parents and Friends of Handicapped people - is not in a position to provide new training places this year.
