Sewerage grant for Kildangan

KILDANGAN 27 March 2003: Funding of E600,000 has been made available to provide sewerage facilities for the village of Kildangan, Co Kildare.

The funding is being made available under the Serviced Land Initiative Scheme administered by the Department of Environment and Local Government.

The scheme will include the construction of a waste water treatment plant and sewers for the village. It will open up 30 acres of land for 150 housing units, 82 of which have already been granted planning permission.

Senator John Dardis said the sewerage scheme is crucial as it will clear the way for the provision of much needed local authority housing in the area.

"While the main focus of the scheme is the opening up of land for development, it also has important environmental consequences as it will resolve the recent pollution problems with septic tanks in the area,” he said.
