Hospital parking spaces have 'not made much difference'

NAAS, 12 September 2002: The additional 93 car parking spaces now available in the new car park at Naas Hospital have not made much difference to the chaotic parking in the area, according to local Cllr Pat O’Reilly.

“It has relieved the situation a little, but not to the extent I believed it would. I’m disappointed so far,” he said last week.

The remaining 34 spaces in the phase will come on stream later this month.

Cllrs Willie Callaghan, Seamie Moore and Pat O’Reilly had issued a statement earlier saying the provision of these extra spaces ‘will dramatically improve the parking conditions in the Lakelands area’ and that there would be no need for employees or visitors to the hospital to park in Lakelands.

This, they said justified their request at the June meeting of the Council to vote against introducing Residents Only Parking in Lakelands.

However, they would support the extension of the Parking Laws to the area, including Residents Only Parking, if the position had not improved with the 93 extra car parking spaces at the hospital.
