Niles rockers heading for Leixlip

22 May 2003: Dennis McEnerney, a police commander from Leixlip's twin town, Niles, is one of the key visiting figures in the coming Leixlip Festival on the Bank Holiday weekend.

He is accompanied by local rock band “Undercover Rocks”, headed up by the Niles Village Attorney, Joe Annunzio, and they are going to play several gigs during the Festival.

Their schedule of gigs include the “Open Zone” in St Mary’s GAA club and Confey GAA club, as well as the Saturday Festival entertainment on Main Street, playing a couple of times during the afternoon, before acting as a warm-up act for the Bards on the “Gig Rig” that night.

They will play again on Sunday afternoon in the Main Street, and finish up enjoying the firework display on Sunday night.

The visiting deleages will also use the opportunity to work on some of the ongoing project between the twin towns, such as the Leixlip Friendship Games 2004, and the public art project involving the installation of a huge mosaic in the Linear Park, to complement the one built by Coláiste Chiaráin transition year students directed by Eleanor Lawler.
