UK children love Mae's poem

NAAS, 14 September 2002: While she has already collected many prizes and accolades for her work, local writer Mae Leonard will travel to a school in Belmont, Shrewsbury this month to be presented with a very special prize.

Some 1500 children from a local school there have given her poem The Wild Wind the thumbs up as one of their favourites.

The children were given the task of choosing from a number of childrens’ poems submitted worldwide and selected Mae’s poem as overall runner up.

The young students will read and present the winning poems at the prize giving ceremony.
