Naas GAA wants space on Monread Park

NAAS, 2 May 2002: by Trish Whelan. The Naas Juvenile Gaelic Football Club want to use part of Monread District Park (above) to train juvenile football teams.

The club has been put on notice to vacate the field on Fishery Lane, lent to them by a local landowner for the past number of years. This field, states Juvenile Football secretary Charlie White, has been used as a football nursery for over one hundred boys from U/6 to U/9 every Sunday morning and around 60 boys for U/12, U/13 and U/14 training on Saturday mornings.

He hoped arrangements could be similar to how Kildare County Council manages St Catherine’s Park in Leixlip and how Dublin County Council manage their parks in similar large urban areas.

The section they want to use borders Kerdiff Close, The Park, and The Gardens.
