Planning refusal in Celbridge

02 May 2003: Kildare County Council has refused planning permission for 437 dwellings comprising 2 and 3 storey houses, 3 storey duplex units and 2,3 and 4 storey blocks at Hazelhatch Road, Donaghcumper, Celbridge.

The Council refused permission because of the height of many of the proposed units, which were inappropriate for the site and adjacent to single and two storey properties. This would have led to overlooking of properties and 'would therefore seriously injure the amenities and depreciatethe value of property in the vicinity'.

Deputy Emmet Stagg noted that the density of the proposal at 14 housing units to the acre was also not in compliance with the Celbridge Development Plan, 2002.
