Tenders invited for road widening

KILDARE NORTH 28 February 2003: Tenders have been invited for the widening of the Naas to Blackchurch dual carriageway to three-lane status. This will bring the complete road from Dublin to the Long Mile Road in Dublin to three lanes on each carriageway.

The tenders, called for by Kildare County Council, involves widening approximately 8.5km, with the possibility of up to 14km, of the existing N7 National Route.

The contractors will also be required to undertake construction of at least three grade separated interchanges, including ramps, as well as at least two pedestrian footbridges.

Approximately 12km of secondary roads will also be constructed as part of the contract, as well as the provision of traffic calming features through existing villages. The applications deadline is Thursday 3 April, 2003.
