History seminar

NEWBRIDGE 15 February 2003: The Curragh and graveyards in Maynooth will feature in the second Annual Local History Seminar to be held at the Riverbank Centre in Newbridge on Tuesday 25 February.

Presentations will be made by the Teresa Brayton Local History Group, the Curragh Local History Group, and the Maynooth Local History and Civic Forum.

In a segment reflecting ‘centenary and bicentenary’ events, there will be a talk by Seamus Cullen on ‘Conspiracy, Rebellion and Manhunt in Kildare, 1802-06’, as well as a presentation on the Gordon Bennet Race.

Bridget McLoughlin will speak on the post of Heritage Officer, and other presentations include one by the County Kildare Federation of Local History Groups, and Karel Kiely on The Kildare Heritage Project.

The seminar begins at 8pm and admission is free.
