Celbridge road on track for completion

CELBRIDGE 03 February 2003: The final section of Shackleton Road in Celbridge should be completed in four months, following the withdrawal of a High Court challenge to a Compulsory Purchase Order granted to Kildare County Council.

Work has already started on the the section, and when complete the road will reduce the traffic on the Main Street in the town, will reduce the 'rat runí traffic through St. Raphael's Manor, The Lane and St Patrickís Park. It will also allow the development of the lands adjoining the roadway.

Welcoming the withdrawal of the challenge, Deputy Emmet Stagg said it was regrettable that there was an 'unnecessary delay' of three years on the completion of this road.

"Given the opening of the motorway access, the completion of the Shackleton Road and the start on construction of the Link Road on Boylan's land, it can be seen that the promised infrastructure and road system for Celbridge is becoming a reality," he said.
