4.1 million sports euros allocated

KILDARE GENERAL, 29 March 2002: by Brian Byrne. Sporting organisations in County Kildare are to receive 4.1 million euros in 2002 under 'further grants' under the 2002 Sports Capital Programme announced today by the Government.

Big winners are once again the GAA, with Naas and Maynooth topping the ladder getting 650,000 euros each. Other GAA clubs, including Allenwood, Ardclough, Athy, Ballymore Eustace, Ballyteague, Caragh, Carbury, Clane, Johnstownbridge, Kill, Moorfield, , Nurney, Rathangan, Rathcoffey, Sarsfields and Two Mile House shared 2,035 million euros.

Other large grants went to Athy Golf Club (250,000) and Newbridge Town Football Club (400,000). Other clubs and community organisations in Naas, Clane, Kilcullen and Leixlip shared the balance.
